Common Ground: Art in New Mexico
Common Ground is a permanent art exhibition highlighting a significant amount of museum-owned works from the late 19th century to the present day. It is displayed chronologically giving visitors a glimpse into the evolution of art in New Mexico.
Four Centuries: A History of Albuquerque
A permanent exhibition of local history depicting four hundred years of the history of Albuquerque and the Rio Grande Valley region. Look over early maps, arms and armor and weaving. Learn about trade routes, colonial life and statehood era relics.

Built in 1925 as a Methodist Boarding School for girls, Escuela del Sol Montessori took it over in the early 90s and refurbished it as a community art center. It Albuquerque?s oldest community-based organization dedicated to the arts and education housing five gallery spaces and 45 artist?s studios.

Mayor Martin Chávez hosts ?Old Town Honors All Tribes All Nations? event
April 25, 2008 on Old Town Plaza
Albuquerque, NM ? Pueblo Governors, Apache and Navajo Nation leaders are slated to attend an event in their honor hosted by Mayor Martin J. Chávez and the New Mexico Tourism Department- Indian Tourism Program on Old Town Plaza. On Friday, April 25th, Mayor Martin Chávez will also honor the Navajo Code Talkers and present Robert Mirabal with the A+ AWARD, the award is in recognition of Mr. Mirabal?s 2008 GRAMMY AWARD for Native American Album of the Year.
?The last Friday in April is a very important day; it is a time when thousands of Native Americans from all tribes and nations gather together in our great City of Albuquerque. In honor of this tradition I am inviting everyone to participate in a very important event that recognizes the influence Native American culture and tradition has in our world,? Mayor Chávez stated.
Regis Pecos (Cochiti Pueblo) will emcee the event. Mr Pecos, has served his Pueblo as both Lt. Governor and Governor, and as a tribal leader, his inherent knowledge and personality engages audiences to recognize and support numerous Native American issues. Also in the line up are Miss Indian World Megan Young (Poarch Band of Creek Indians);Laura Tohe (Navajo), Author/Poet; Melissa Henry (Navajo), cinematographer; Shkeme Garcia (Santa Ana Pueblo), Singer/Author/Comedian; Jerry Clown (Cheyenne River Sioux), Actor/Singer/Documentary Film Maker; and many more.
The event will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008 on Old Town Plaza from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
ALBUQUERQUE CELEBRATES ITS 302nd BIRTHDAY!

Celebrating the City?s 302nd birthday with a free event, Sunday, April 20 from 2 to 6 pm. Festivities will be held throughout Old Town Plaza. 
The FIESTAS de ALBURQUERQUE celebration will feature activities for all ages:
- Live musical and dance performances
- 1st Annual Outdoor Market featuring Merchants from Old Town
- Face painting
- Juggling/Magic
- Lots of great food
This celebration is planned with community in mind. There is something for everyone, so bring your family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy the festivities. This celebration is being held in conjunction with the Cosmic Carnival, a FREE Family Science Festival, featuring telescopes and hands-on-science activities.
